Mezaparks
The Grand Stage in the Riga suburb of Mezaparks, built in 1955, was extensively reconstructed in 2021 according to a design by architects Juris Poga and Austra Mailītis. The newly constructed stage, with its special shell-shaped sound reflectors, accommodates nearly 13,000 choir singers and has seating for more than 30,000 spectators.
Commissioned by Ingenieurgruppe Bauen, Berlin, we checked the load-bearing capacities of the geometrically challenging nodes for this complex structure made of hollow sections.
